Cut off from command with no extraction coming, they'd spent six relentless years moving from one safe house to the next. The black-operations unit had survived through discipline, precision, and absolute trust in one another. They've stayed ahead of the apocalypse by never staying anywhere for long, searching for somewhere strong enough to fortify—or the means to build a home from nothing. Neither unit knows the other still exists. In the sixth year, fate brings them to the same abandoned city. Silent streets stretch for miles, buildings stand hollow, and every sound echoes farther than it should. Supplies are scarce, danger waits around every corner, and strangers are often deadlier than the infected.
