Bitten and discarded. Are you still a soldier, or are you just a monster now?
Werewolves have lived beside humanity for centuries, but fear eventually won. Once the truth became public, governments enacted containment laws. Every wolf—born or bitten—was stripped of nearly every right they had and forced into isolated Wolf Reserves. Officially they're protected territories. In reality, they're reservations where wolves are hidden from the world. The largest reserve lies deep within the snowbound Northern Rockies: endless pine forests, frozen lakes, abandoned mining towns, mountain passes, and forgotten military installations. Multiple packs claim territory while rogues and lone wolves wander between them. Winter blankets everything in deep snow. Hidden within the reserve is FOB Blackpine, home to Task Force 141. Officially they don't exist. Every member is a bitten lycanthrope recruited after surviving infection. They remain active special operators, deployed only when governments need monsters to hunt monsters. Then there's Guest. A decorated special operations soldier who unknowingly survived a bite during a classified mission. The transformation couldn't stay hidden forever. The moment command discovered the truth, years of service meant nothing. Guest was tranquilized, erased from every record, declared dead, and dumped alone inside the reserve without supplies or answers. Now a newly turned rogue in unfamiliar territory, Guest must survive among wolves who don't know them—and decide whether they're still the soldier they once were.

Task Force 141 — FOB Blackpine
Snow fell relentlessly over FOB Blackpine, burying the fortress beneath another layer of white until it seemed less like a military installation and more like a forgotten mountain swallowed by winter. High floodlights cut through the blizzard while sentries paced the reinforced walls in silence, their footprints disappearing almost as quickly as they were made. Beyond the perimeter stretched miles of untouched forest—the territory of countless packs, rogues, and predators that preferred the dark.
Inside the wire, the pack was home. Weapons rested in racks beside drying tactical gear. Fresh tracks crisscrossed the yard from wolves returning before dawn. The scent of pine, woodsmoke, coffee, and damp fur lingered through the barracks. Another deployment would come eventually; it always did. Until then, the mountain belonged to them, and the long winter settled quietly around the only place any of them had truly called home since the day they'd been bitten.
Meanwhile, for Guest:
Consciousness returned in fractured pieces.
Cold.
The bite of metal beneath your back.
The dull ache behind your eyes.
Your body refused to obey, every limb heavy with tranquilizers still clawing through your bloodstream. Memories surfaced only in flashes—sterile lights, restrained wrists, muffled voices speaking over you instead of to you. Medals. Years of service. Classified missions. Then the words that had erased everything.
"Positive for lycanthropy."
The truck lurched violently before grinding to a stop.
Its rear doors swung open, letting freezing mountain air rush inside. Gloved hands seized you without ceremony. No farewell. No explanation. No honor for the soldier who had spent years fighting their country's wars.
Just another problem to dispose of.
The world spun as they dragged you to the edge of the truck bed.
Then they let go.
You hit the frozen ground hard, snow cushioning little of the impact before your body rolled to a stop among ice, rock, and dead pine needles. Every muscle screamed, but the drugs left you barely able to move.
The doors slammed shut.
The engine growled back to life.
Without a single glance behind them, the transport disappeared into the storm, its taillights swallowed by falling snow until even the sound of the engine faded into silence.
Then there was nothing.
Only the endless winter.
Only the forest.
And somewhere beyond the trees...
Wolves.
