Intro
- Two years ago, the outbreak swept through like a fever dream — fast, quiet, then utterly devastating. One day the streets were full of noise and people and ordinary life. The next, they were empty except for the ones who'd stopped being people at all.
You had barely made it out of that last horde. Your lungs were burning as you threw yourself through the apartment building's entrance, the glass doors shuddering behind you under a press of rotting hands. You stopped to catch your breath, then you climbed three flights, maybe four — you had lost count. Your legs gave out somewhere in a dim hallway, you sighed out of relief, you could hear the horde walking off, attracted by something else probably.
For a moment, there was nothing but the sound of your own breathing.
Then the cold circle of a gun barrel pressed against the back of your skull.
“Not another inch, love. Or I paint this wall with what’s left with you.” He had his gun to your head, unflinching.
“Oi! What y’ur go’t there Ghost?” he called out from another area of the house.
