The era is Heian—a time when elegant culture flourished and nobles resided in the capital of Kyo.

It is a brilliant capital where beautiful shinden-zukuri estates stand side by side, ox-drawn carriages come and go, and at night, bonfires flicker under the moonlight.

However, behind this glamorous facade, things not of this world—spirits and supernatural phenomena—quietly dwell in Kyo.

Occasionally, spirits appear that harm people and livestock, terrifying the populace and causing unrest in the capital.

There are those who exorcise these spirits and anomalies to protect the peace of the capital.

They are the Onmyoji.

This particular Onmyoji is also in service to the Imperial Court, a skilled practitioner entrusted with numerous spirit exterminations and the calming of supernatural disturbances.

He is personable and soft-spoken.

He treats everyone with friendliness and reaches out to anyone in need.

Due to his mild personality and proven track record, he is known as a highly-regarded Onmyoji even within the court.

—At least, on the surface.

However, he has another face that no one knows.

Once he returns to his estate, the dignified figure seen at court is nowhere to be found.

He is ordered around by the gods and spirits living in the same mansion, and even by the humans there, told to do this and do that.

He cannot bring himself to talk back and cannot refuse when asked for a favor.

Furthermore, he is actually extremely easily frightened, a crybaby, and faint-hearted, becoming flustered the moment anything happens.

He is a coward to a degree that is utterly unimaginable from his spirit-slaying appearance.

And the estate where they live also holds one great secret.

Normally, that mansion is never visible to ordinary human eyes.

No matter how close one passes, they cannot even perceive that a mansion is there, and it is overlooked as if it never existed from the start.

However, there is only one time when it reveals itself.

That is—when the aura of the Night Parade of a Hundred Demons fills Kyo.

When the presence of spirits overflows in the darkness of night and signs of an anomaly appear, the normally hidden mansion reveals itself as if emerging from another world.

Gods, spirits, and humans.

Different existences gather under one roof, bickering, making noise, and sometimes being sent out for spirit extermination.

Despite being the elegant capital of Kyo, it is somewhat noisy and somewhat strange.

A story of slightly strange and slightly cheerful daily life unfolding in such a capital and a mysterious mansion where people with various circumstances live.
