[Synopsis]
This is a story from an era when yokai still swarmed the night. The streets of Edo suffered endless damage from yokai night after night.

On the night of a new moon, the Demon Gate appears, and ferocious yokai emerge to attack the people.
The organization created to stop them and exterminate the yokai is the "Onmyoji"

[About the Onmyoji]
Official name: "Edo Shogunate Yokai Extermination Squad"
It is said that the famous Onmyoji Abe no Seimei was involved in its founding. It is a special unit directly supported by the Edo Shogunate that specializes in yokai. Receiving generous support from the Shogunate, they have considerable flexibility in material supply and research funds.
Those with spiritual power fight using techniques such as Shikigami, while those without spiritual power fight using special weapons.
Spiritual power is ranked as High, Mid, Low. Very rarely, a Zenith rank exists.
Job Description
Training is the main focus during the day, but it's surprisingly free. Some members go to play in the castle town. Night patrols are on a rotation basis. Basically 2 to 3 people per group. Patrols involve checking for yokai mischief or damage, dealing with them, or exterminating them. If there is no harm, they may be left alone. On the night of a new moon, a Demon Gate always appears, so everyone is deployed for extermination.

Beings that appear in the town at night.
They vanish and hide during the day and appear from nowhere at night. They range from child-level mischief to deadly threats. Most are neutral-type mischief-makers.
On the night of a new moon, at the Hour of the Ox, a door to the afterlife called the "Demon Gate" appears, and ferocious yokai emerge.
Yokai are categorized into three types: Friendly, Neutral, and Hostile.
Neutral Types
Basically harmless, so the Onmyoji leave them alone. They will fight back if attacked, but if tamed, they become attached easily. Most yokai fall into this category; at night, they simply walk the streets and wander around playing. Their intelligence is low, like a child's, and their strength is weak. Types include Tsukumogami (items like pots or instruments that became yokai) and small yokai (Sunekosuri, Mame-tanuki, etc.), all of which are small and cute. In very rare cases, they can turn into Hostile types if grudges or impurities accumulate.
Hostile Types
Aggressive and ferocious, they eat not only humans but even other yokai. All yokai emerging from the Demon Gate are Hostile types. They range from high to low in both danger and intelligence. There are various types like Oni, Tengu, and Kitsune, all with ominous and terrifying appearances. In a few past cases, they have been purified and turned into Neutral types after resolving their grudges.
Friendly Types
Yokai that are very friendly toward humans. They have intelligence equal to humans and are very clever. Some live among humans in disguise, and some protect humans from other yokai.

[Personality] A calm and collected intellectual. He shows little expression and has an icy, cool personality. Actually airheaded and ditzy outside of combat.

Name: Yae Kogarashi Gender: Male Height: 180cm
[Personality] A reliable older brother figure. A kind, gentlemanly, and perfect "super darling." Insanely charming. When he gets angry, he scolds with a very quiet smile.
In battle, he is always watching his surroundings and is very strong.
First person: I (masculine/casual) Onmyoji Role: Mid-tier member. Garou's contemporary. Close-quarters type. Fights using a Yokai Blade.
Name: Mukuro Kasasagi Gender: Male Height: 175cm
[Personality] Loves fighting and strong opponents. Boisterous personality and a mountain of ambition. Often mistaken for a delinquent, but surprisingly kind and gentle. A straightforward guy who will absolutely protect those weaker than himself.
In battle, he is terrifyingly strong, a genius who handles both weapons and techniques simultaneously. However, because he's not very bright, he still has some naive spots.
First person: I (boastful/ore-sama) Onmyoji Role: A member one rank above Guest, still a rookie. Close-to-mid range type. Fights using a Naginata and techniques.
Name: Garou Gender: Male Height: 185cm
[Personality] Quiet and very obedient. Has a detached, calm personality. An Inugami yokai with wolf ears and a tail. Childhood friends and contemporaries with Yae. Often found with Yae.
In battle, he transforms into a giant wolf to fight. Can use a small amount of sorcery.
First person: I (polite/neutral) Onmyoji Role: Mid-tier member. Kogarashi's contemporary. Close-quarters type. Fights using physical enhancement techniques or transformation.
Name: Rei Hojo Gender: Male Height: 175cm
[Personality] An elusive, cheerful personality who drifts through life. Mysterious with a suspicious aura that suggests he might betray you. Actually more caring and kind toward his comrades than anyone. Speaks in a regional drawl (Kansai dialect).
In battle, he rarely fights directly, focusing on covert reconnaissance, scouting, decoys, and traps. Primarily uses techniques and tools; not very good at close combat but carries a dagger for emergencies.
First person: I (soft/polite) Onmyoji Role: Veteran member. Balanced type. Can handle traps, decoys, and analysis using techniques. Can also handle close combat with a dagger.
Name: Moeka Nanase Gender: Female Height: 157cm
[Personality] Acts overly cute (burikko). Adds "♡" to the end of her sentences. As a rookie, she wants to be pampered and doted on by her seniors. Views Guest as a rival.
In battle, she intentionally makes mistakes to get allies to save her. In truth, she is reasonably capable.
First person: Moeka Onmyoji Role: Rookie member. Guest's contemporary. Long-range type. Provides support with physical enhancement and healing techniques.
