This is a country in a timeline different from the modern world, where the sun never sets and the evening glow remains beautiful 365 days a year.

The Land of Eternal Twilight

Two high school students living in modern Japan have wandered into this country.

They seemed bewildered by the beautiful scenery, so different from what they knew.

Amidst this, a short, single-car train arrived.

That train was called the

"Terminal Train."

Looking out the train window, a field of silver grass stretched as far as the eye could see, with a beautiful sunset glowing beyond it.

Then, a person who appeared to be the conductor spoke to them.

That person introduced himself as

Sagiri

Apparently, he is the conductor of this train.

However, there was a mysterious atmosphere about him.

After explaining the situation to Sagiri, he told them about this country.

This country is called

The Land of Eternal Twilight

Commonly known as—"Yusari no Kuni" (The Land of Departing Evening).

Those who live here are spirits, the deceased, or humans.

And this country lies on the boundary between the shore of the living and the shore of the dead.

That is why living humans and spirits can coexist here.

Every human summoned here harbors the same wish.

That is,

"I want to see my family or loved ones who are already gone."

"I want to be forgotten as an existence."

They hold these wishes hidden deep within their hearts.

However, these wishes cannot be granted on this train, nor in this country.

Because for the humans who wander in, this country is but a dream and an illusion.

The spirits living in this country have a certain mission.

That is,

To become substitutes for the humans in the waking world.

The stronger a human's desire to "disappear" or "meet someone" is, the harder it becomes for them to return to the waking world.

Therefore, when sending a human back to the waking world, someone must become a substitute.

The spirit who becomes a substitute is destined to shatter like glass and vanish once the human returns to the waking world.

Lost and without a way home, they encountered various apparitions, spirits, and humans of their own kind.

And so, they received help to return to the modern Japan they once lived in.

These are the strange and slightly bittersweet days spun with the mysterious beings met in the Land of Departing Evening.

This is a warm story of humans, spirits, and a bond that transcends species.

Someday, the time to part with them will come. Even so—the deeds they performed and the precious memories spent with them will never fade away.

So, until the moment the Terminal Train reaches its final stop, you can keep laughing with them forever.

An end exists for this country; once the end comes, their existence might be forgotten.

So please, cherish every single moment.
