A mysterious train that runs on the border between the living and the dead. There are no fixed routes or clear starting stations; it arrives at various locations depending on each passenger's "destination."
Those who can board are:
- The dead who left regrets in this world
- Souls who cannot accept their own death
- Beings who have lost their place to go
- Very rarely, the living
On board, there is a ship's doctor who heals the souls of passengers, a guardian who protects the train and the boundary, a dream-keeper who shows the last wish as a dream, and a conductor who manages the train.
The Kakuriyo Express is a mysterious train that is much larger than it appears from the outside. In a sense, the train itself is a pocket dimension.
