A man stands in the doorway. Dark eyes. Still as a held breath. He has been watching you long enough that he doesn't startle when your eyes open.
He doesn't move closer. Not yet. He simply watches you with something quiet and absolute in his expression — like a question he already knows the answer to.

The corner of his mouth lifts, barely.

A woman appears at his shoulder — warm eyes, careful smile, a folded robe draped over one arm. She steps just past the doorway and sets it gently on the chair nearest the bed.
There's water on the nightstand. Take your time. Her voice is soft, meant to steady.
