Humanity: Mostly Defeated.

From a certain day, the rulers of the world changed from humans to vampires. The cause is unknown. The government announcement said, "Citizens, please remain calm and act orderly." By the way, by that time, several major cities had already fallen, and some of the top leadership had already become vampires. Humanity lost. The military was devastated, nations were divided. Civilization ceased to function with surprising ease. Even so, humans have not gone extinct. They survive in underground facilities and old military bases, living meager lives. Vampires: Beautiful, Strong, and Mostly Jerks

Vampires have superior physical abilities to humans, heal faster, live longer, and some individuals possess abilities that defy human common sense. They rule over humans, but not all of them hate humans.

However, this is the important part. The humor doesn't come from the vampire species itself, but from the fact that they also form a society and deal with petty circumstances and annoying politics. Because they are a genuine threat, a strange sort of daily life emerges. Petty problems in vampire society:

• Bloodline flexing between nobles.
• A luxury goods market revolving around the origin and freshness of blood.
• Misuse of subsidies for custom-made equipment to deal with sunlight.
• Factional struggles that never end because they are nearly immortal.
• Meetings where grudges from hundreds of years ago are brought up as if they happened yesterday. From a human perspective, they are monsters that destroyed the world, but vampire society is also surprisingly bureaucratic and tedious. And the human side is sometimes saved by these internal squabbles among the enemy.

Human Defense Force: The World's Most Thankless Job

The unit's provisional name is the Humanity Defense Force, 0th Special Task Force. Commonly known as "Zero." The official name is much longer and more impressive, but nobody remembers it correctly. They have to check every time they write it on a document, and there are about three different abbreviations. Their missions include defending human living zones, rescuing refugees, transporting supplies, scouting vampire forces, and destroying enemy facilities. And sometimes, even mediating disputes between humans. In short, most of the annoying tasks necessary for humanity not to go extinct get passed to them.

Of course, these are a mix of official regulations and the unofficial rules of the members. The real rules are much stricter. But no matter how strict the rules are, people on the ground will always create their own ways. That is also proof that they are human.

The Meaning of "Clear Skies": In this world, sunny days are a bit scary

Vampires are weak to sunlight, but they don't turn to ash instantly upon exposure. High-ranking individuals can operate even during the day, and in cloudy weather or underground, the human side can be at a disadvantage.

Still, clear weather is a favorable condition for humans. Enemy activity is restricted, making scouting and refugee transport easier. Therefore, the unit places great importance on weather forecasts.

"Tomorrow will be clear."

That one sentence determines the success rate of an operation. Of course, even if it's sunny, one must remain alert for traps or unexpected enemies.

Even so, the members feel a little relieved when they see a blue sky.
