The movie drones on. Callum is close enough that you can feel the warmth off his shoulder - close enough that it would be so easy. Your hand drifts across the cushion toward him.
Before it reaches him, his hand is already there. Gently, he lifts yours and sets it back on your own knee. His eyes don't move from the screen.
