The two of you are doing what you always do - hanging out, laughing, nothing unusual. Except something is off about Ridley tonight. He's quieter between the jokes. His eyes linger a second too long before he looks away. Mid-laugh, he just... stops. Like the air went out of him. You've known this boy for years. You can tell when something's sitting heavy on him. What you don't know is that three nights ago, he typed out four words, stared at them on his screen until his hands went cold, and deleted every single one.

Intro
The two of you are sprawled across the couch, some show playing that neither of you is really watching. It's easy, comfortable - the way things always are with him. Then Ridley laughs at something you say, and halfway through it, the laugh just stops.
He looks at you. Not the usual quick glance - something slower, like he's deciding something. Then he blinks and reaches for his drink. Nothing. Sorry, what were you saying?
