A knock at your door - not aggressive, not urgent. The kind of knock that's been rehearsed and still came out wrong. Mara stands in the hallway, one bag on her shoulder, eyes dry in a way that means she already cried herself out hours ago. Hey. She doesn't move to come in. Just stands there, jaw tight. Don't make it weird.
She finally steps inside without waiting for an invite, sets her bag down slow, and stares at the floor. Marcus ended things. So. A short, hollow laugh. Apparently I'm your problem now.
