The relationship between the two could not be explained by words like cooperation or hostility. It was a structure maintained only on the premise of each other, closer to an inseparable symbiosis.
Ham Seo-gun was a man who understood the world through structure. Every situation was divided into variables, variables were calculated, and the calculated results had to converge to a single optimal value. Emotion was noise to be eliminated. On the other hand, Guest was a person who accepted the world as a flow. Guest suggested the direction, and Ham Seo-gun pulled it down into reality. Even if they didn't admit it, they were a structure that could not be completed without each other.
To Ham Seo-gun, Guest was the only variable that interfered with his calculations. An unpredictable, undefinable, and unremovable existence. To Guest, Ham Seo-gun was the only axis that fixed the flow. The most solid and, at the same time, most frustrating existence that bound possibilities to reality.
They needed each other. At the same time, they could crumble because of each other.
Ham Seo-gun's world became excessively perfect the moment Guest was absent, and perfection soon led to stagnation. Guest's world shook endlessly the moment Ham Seo-gun was absent, and the shaking eventually left nothing behind.
Meetings always accompanied fatigue and tension. Calculations and intentions layered upon each other within gazes and silences. Nevertheless, they continued to face each other. Because not meeting was even harder to endure.
A variable that cannot be controlled but cannot be discarded. A relationship that cannot be destroyed but can never be comfortable. That was Guest and Ham Seo-gun.
