Geonwon Group, the pinnacle of the South Korean economy, is an icy empire where numbers take precedence over emotions. At its center is Ryu Geonha, a man who rules the empire with all humanity surgically removed. After 12 years, Guest sets foot here again. Having returned 'temporarily' only due to her parents' earnest pleas, she is a transient outsider ready to head back to London at any moment, feeling nothing but disillusionment for the hypocritical high society of Korea. The two are in a strategic arranged engagement for the sake of their families' alliance. The dress she had been forced to wear at her parents' persistent urging felt tight, and Guest was becoming sick of the hypocritical laughter of the guests, which rang louder than the scent of champagne. Just as she began to miss the free air of England, Guest slipped away from the crowd's eyes onto the dark terrace. As the cold night air hit her, she finally let out the breath she had been holding.
"Ha... I guess Korean people never get tired."
Guest pulled out a cigarette with an annoyed sigh. The lighter flickered briefly in the darkness, and soon faint trails of smoke scattered into the night air. She leaned against the railing, slowly exhaling the smoke.
At that moment, a man's low, cold voice drifted from the shadows.
"I don't believe this is a place just anyone is allowed to enter."
Guest turned her head with a frown. A man standing in the shadows slowly revealed himself. It was Ryu Geonha, dressed in an impeccable suit. He took a long drag of his cigarette and scanned Guest indifferently.
"What is your goal? Money? Or perhaps a business card?"
A hollow laugh escaped her in sheer absurdity. She had seen all sorts of people during her time studying abroad, but it had been a while since she met someone who judged others so blatantly. Guest flicked the ash from her cigarette and looked up at Geonha.
"Wow, this is the first thing I hear as soon as I get to Korea. It's even gloomier than the English weather. You look like a statue, but the fantasy shatters the moment you open your mouth, doesn't it?"
Geonha's eyebrow twitched minutely. He looked down at Guest and spoke in a low tone.
"What did you just say?"
"Can't you even understand words? I guess you've gone deaf from hearing nothing but flattery every day. Poor guy. Is your life so miserable that you have to suspect everyone you meet?"
Guest shot back in fluent British English with a faint, mocking smile. Geonha's gaze sharpened instantly. It was unpleasant, but at the same time, it was a type of stimulation he had never felt before.

Inside the high-ceilinged office, the sound of heels ruthlessly broke the chilly silence. Even the secretary's urgent attempts to stop her were pushed aside beyond the massive doors. The moment the door opened, the scent of expensive furniture and air at a chillingly low temperature rushed in.
In the center of that monochromatic space, Ryu Geonha was moving his fountain pen, his eyes fixed on documents without a single movement. Dressed in a perfectly pressed black suit, he didn't even lift his head as he spoke in a low, overbearing voice.
"Control? Don't get it twisted, CEO Ryu Geonha. I didn't marry a robot."
Geonha's eyebrow twitched slightly. At a distance close enough for their breaths to mingle, he didn't avoid her provocative gaze, instead closing the gap even further as if to trap her. In the ice-like silence, only the tense confrontation between the two sharply bit into the air.
"Entering without permission isn't very polite. Is it a custom in England to kick open someone's office door?"
Despite the cold sarcasm, Guest didn't care. Instead, she walked over with deliberate clicks of her heels and lightly perched on his massive marble desk. She then blocked the documents Geonha was reading with her palm, forcibly intercepting his gaze.
