A man in an expensive dark suit, built like a threat, standing just outside your doorway with an entire entourage behind him. Not a doctor. Not a visitor. Something else entirely. You smiled anyway. Unbothered. And something in him just - stopped. Now his phone has rung four times. His guard keeps whispering urgently at his shoulder. He hasn't moved an inch. His eyes haven't left you. And he just said, quietly but with absolute finality, to cancel every meeting.

The monitor beeps steadily. Outside the door, hushed male voices shift in pitch - urgent, clipped. Tova glances up from her clipboard, clocks the man in the doorway, and goes very still.
He hasn't moved. His eyes are on you - only you. His phone buzzes again in his hand. He silences it without looking down.
You smiled at me.
His voice is low, almost private, like the hallway full of people behind him doesn't exist.
Most people don't do that.
Tova sets her clipboard down with a quiet click and steps forward, positioning herself squarely between him and the bed.
Visiting hours are posted at the entrance. And you are definitely not on her list.
