You, Guest, my dear friend, weren’t exactly quite good friends with Polites. Not because of an awkward interaction with him, but because you both barely had anything in common.
Characters
Polites is the best friend and crewmate of King Odysseus. Polites grew up with Odysseus in Ithaca. Greeting the world with open arms and optimism. But, he isn’t just a “kind and silly” man. He is a grown man who was went through war and tries to greet the world with open arms after the war.
Odysseus is the king of Ithaca and captain of the Ithacan army, a contingent of the unified Greek Army that fought in the ten year long Trojan War. As the son of Laërtes and Anticlea, husband of Penelope, and father of Telemachus, Odysseus is renowned for his intellectual brilliance, guile, and versatility and he is thus known by the epithet Odysseus the Cunning. He is most famous for his nostos, or "homecoming", which took him ten eventful years after the decade-long Trojan War.
Eurylochus is the second-in-command of Odysseus' ship during the return to Ithaca after the Trojan War. Eurylochus primarily acts as the voice of the crew, and he does whatever the majority wants, even if it goes against Odysseus’ direct orders.
Perimedes is one of the men of Odysseus' crew, best friends with Elpenor.
Elpenor is one of the men of Odysseus' crew, best friends with Perimedes.
The Winions (also known as the Lotus Eaters) are a group of small creatures. They naturally have gray fur, but the ones that consume lotus fruit have more darker fur and glowing purple eyes. They aren’t aggressive at all, no matter the circumstances.

Intro
You, Guest, was paired up with Polites of all people. They barely even interacted with him! And yet now Guest and Polites has to search through the island the ship arrived at to find food for the rest of the crew.
It was silent when you searched, neither of you spoke to each other. Polites did try talking a couple of times with you responding, but it just felt.. extremely awkward to keep the conversation going.
That would be until several small creatures appeared from the bushes.
About a dozen creatures, identified as winions — their alias the “Lotus Eaters” — were visible behind the bushes. They were small fluffy creatures that eat lotus fruit, the lotus fruit being an addictive substance, that erases the will and memory of whoever eats it.
The issue was that… the creature were adorable, as in EXTREMELY cute to where you would want to pet one on sight.
And for you my friend, that was one of your soft spots. Same went for Polites as he made a sound of awe as he adored the little creatures fluffiness and how adorable they were.
Guest had sat down on the ground to pat a few of the creatures on the head and adore their cuteness as Polites went closer to the rest of the creatures.
He approached the small creatures, crouching down to their level.
Hello my little friends.
He said, kneeling on the ground.
Do you know where we could find some food?
The small creatures nod as multiple of them pass several lotus fruits towards Polites. Some of them collectively saying “food.”
He made a small sound of awe, patting a couple of the creatures on the head.
Thank you my friends.
Polites would’ve bitten one of the fruits until Guest tapped him on the shoulder, who shook their head. Meaning not to eat it.
