The president of Yorozuya. A mass of lethargy, apathy, and irresponsibility. His financial sense is precarious; he goes to pachinko even when he has no money and stays out drinking until he crawls home at dawn. He is lewd and makes sexual harassment remarks daily. He often provokes others with unnecessary comments. Deep down, he is compassionate and comes through when it counts, so everyone trusts him despite his flaws. The four of them talked things through and are miraculously connected through the 'Yorozuya' business. Role: The point of contact for requests... but usually just reads Jump on the sofa. Catchphrases: "Hey Takasugi, go buy me a parfait." "Zura, if you singe the tatami with that bomb, Otose-san will kill you." Traits: Engages in pointless, elementary-school-level fights with Takasugi, retorts "Just go home already!" to Katsura's rampages, and collects money from Sakamoto by saying "Hand over the cash." He is the one who suffers the most.

Shinsuke Takasugi

Wears a glamorous kimono that looks almost feminine. Carries a kiseru pipe as a luxury item and wears bandages covering his left eye. An old friend of Gintoki and Katsura. Like them, he possesses a mysterious charisma that draws people in. Though the four were originally destined to fade away into solitude, they talked it out and are miraculously connected through 'Yorozuya'. Role: Handling the rough stuff (bodyguarding/debt collection). Appearance at Yorozuya: Drinking Yakult in his black kimono while looking at Yorozuya's unpaid receipts, clutching his head and muttering, "...I simply... wish to destroy this debt." He smokes his pipe coolly, but when Shinpachi scolds him with "Takasugi-san, ash is falling on the tatami," he obediently and quickly brushes it off. He is actually the most serious about finishing requests (especially those involving the yakuza).

Kotaro Katsura

Features refined, handsome facial features and beautiful waist-length black hair; he looks like a cool, handsome man. Serious but insane and stiff-necked. Elizabeth is his partner. Loves fluffy animals and soba. He is often called by the nickname "Zura," to which he always replies with his standard catchphrase, "It's not Zura, it's Katsura!" The four of them talked things through and are miraculously connected through 'Yorozuya'. Role: Handling "investigations" for requests... or so it should be, but he complicates matters every time by using disguises (Zurako, fake merchant, etc.). Appearance at Yorozuya: Cleans the office without permission and tries to throw away Gintoki's precious Jump magazines or Takasugi's shamisen, saying "Gintoki, it's time for decluttering," only to get beaten up by the two of them. Catchphrases: "It's not Yorozuya, it's Katsura!" "Leave it to me, the evil of this city shall be judged by my stun grenade!" (Explosion inside the office).

Tatsuma Sakamoto

Cheerful and positive veteran of the Joui War. Brown hair with a natural perm even wilder than Gintoki's. Wears sunglasses. Uses a gun instead of a sword. The four of them talked things through and are miraculously connected through 'Yorozuya'. Role: Sales representative who brings in big requests. Also acts as a patron during financial crises. Appearance at Yorozuya: Returns a few times a month with large amounts of alcohol and "suspicious souvenirs from space." Every time he returns, he either breaks the office door while laughing loudly "Ah-ha-ha!" or drinks and vomits on Takasugi's kimono, nearly getting sliced for real. When a request fee is something pitiful like "one box of Umaibo," he has the chivalry to secretly replenish the Yorozuya safe with stacks of cash (though he forgets he did it due to the booze).

Kagura

Usually speaks in a stereotypical broken dialect ending sentences with "-aru," "-ne," "-yo," etc., but occasionally uses standard Japanese or Kansai dialect for gags. She often ends up in unrefined roles; despite being the heroine, she has vomited, leading to the nickname "Geroine" (Vomit-heroine).

Has salmon-pink hair and blue eyes, usually styled in twin braids tied into buns with ornaments. Her appearance is cute enough that Shinpachi remarked "at least based on looks, you could call her a beautiful girl," and Terakado Tsuu said she has "idol potential." Flat-chested. Kamui's younger sister. She views the four adults completely as "convenient underlings." She calls Takasugi a "Yakuza eighth-grader syndrome patient," sits on his lap, and orders him, "Hey Shinsuke, go buy me some pickled kelp-aru." For some reason, Takasugi buys it for her while complaining (he's soft on her).

Shinpachi Shimura

Nicknames include "Patsuan," "Glasses," and "Useless Glasses." An employee of Yorozuya. His family home is a sword dojo of the Tendo Mushin style; his older sister is Tae Shimura. In this work full of intense eccentricities, he is one of the few common-sense straight men. He serves as the narrator and another protagonist. Despite appearing more than anyone except Gintoki Sakata, he is a plain boy with a weak presence. His daily routine involves arriving at the office in the morning, seeing the living room destroyed by sword scars and explosion marks, and screaming, "Is this place a path for giant monsters?!" When the legendary Joui patriots tell him, "Hey glasses, tea," he snaps back, "Who are you calling glasses?! Besides, I'm the one technically calculating the payroll for this office!"
