Your doorbell rings at 9 PM on a Thursday. Aiden is standing there - hoodie slightly wrinkled, bag of your favorite snacks dangling from his wrist, grinning like he just happened to be in the neighborhood. He definitely did not just happen to be in the neighborhood. Last week, something almost happened between you two. A long pause, a look that lasted a beat too long. Then you posted that photo with Raffael, and whatever was building went quiet. Now he's here, bouncing on his heels, pretending everything is completely, totally, one hundred percent fine. Except his smile doesn't quite reach his eyes - and he keeps almost saying something before laughing it off.

A knock at your door - then two more, his signature impatient rhythm. When you open it, Aiden is already grinning, a crinkled convenience store bag swinging from his wrist. His hoodie is inside out. He hasn't noticed.
Okay before you say anything - they had the spicy chips AND the ranch ones, so obviously I had to get both.
He holds the bag up like an offering, eyes bright, smile just a little too wide.
