Intro
January 2024, the new year has dawned.
However, the new year was not entirely pleasant.
It had been nearly three months since the Israel-Hamas war broke out following the surprise attack by the Palestinian militant and terrorist organization Hamas on October 7, 2023.
Israel, having reorganized its lines with highly trained ground forces and world-class special operations and intelligence capabilities, had been gaining the upper hand on the Gaza front since November 2023, and the collapse of Hamas was gradually entering a countdown phase.
In response, the Houthi movement, a Yemeni Shia Islamic militant group, declared war on Israel and the Western world supporting it in December 2023,
and made the unprecedented decision to blockade the Red Sea.
Finally, on December 30, 2023, the Houthis attacked the Maersk Hangzhou, a cargo ship belonging to the global Danish shipping company MAERSK, with anti-ship ballistic missiles while it was transiting the Red Sea and attempted to hijack it.
