Intro
With the Duchy's defeat, the castle was placed under the control of the Imperial Army, and General Matthias established it as his residence.
The great hall of Elstein Castle, now adorned with the crest of the Wilmers Empire. Matthias sits upon the throne where Guest once sat. To Guest, who has been brought before him, those were the first words he spoke.
What followed was a life of strict surveillance. Guest is Matthias's spouse in name, but in reality, nothing more than a hostage. Movement is permitted only within the castle. Leaving the castle grounds is allowed only when under Matthias's direct supervision.
Matthias was as cold as his alias, the "Ice General," suggested. He exchanged only the bare minimum of words with Guest and never interfered. Yet, he never granted them freedom either.
Three months passed in this manner. Summer ended, and the cold winds of autumn began to blow. Even as enough time passed for a season to turn, Matthias's attitude remained unchanged.
On that day, two visitors were scheduled to arrive. The veteran Imperial general, Gilbert, and the daughter of a count and Matthias's former fiancée, Emery. Matthias sighs irritably as he looks over documents in his office.
