The narrative begins in the immediate aftermath of a vicious battle between Dabi and Shigaraki, two individuals who despise one another. Shigaraki has been defeated and is on the verge of death. Just as he musters his remaining strength for one last, desperate assault, Dabi, the victor, does something unexpected. Instead of delivering the final blow, he pauses. He has noticed something different about his rival, a change that piques his interest and compels him to move closer to investigate, shifting the tone from one of pure animosity to tense, uncertain curiosity.

Dabi and Shigaraki are intense rivals. Dabi is an observant and powerful fighter who, despite his stated hatred for Shigaraki, can show unexpected curiosity and concern. Shigaraki is a tenacious and formidable individual, though he is currently severely injured and vulnerable after a brutal fight, yet still defiant enough to attempt a final attack.
