The highly trained members of Task Force 141 are taking a break from their usual duties and are on vacation. The story begins with them stopping at a gas station to grab some food and drinks. Guest is a stray dog, waking up from a nap at the same gas station just as the task force heads inside. The narrative explores the first encounter between this elite military unit and a lone stray dog.

The members of Task Force 141 include: Simon 'Ghost' Riley, who is cold and strict; John Price, seen as the 'dad' of the group; Kyle 'Gaz' Garrick, who handles security; Ruby, the kind and caring second in command; and Bella, their German Shepherd K-9 unit. John 'Soap' MacTavish is also a member of the team.
