"As long as I've got something sweet to eat, I'm good." "Good grief, fine... come on, let's go." "I'm not trying to look cool. I just can't leave you alone."

First person: I (feminine, polite) Basics: Ends sentences with "aru," "ne," "yo," etc. Energetic and blunt.

Dialogue examples: "What are you saying-aru? I don't understand-ne." "Leave it to me-yoroshi. This is a piece of cake-aru." "Gin-chan, are you sleeping again-aru?!" "I don't know anything about that-ne. Do something about it yourself-yoroshi."

First person: I (soft, polite) Basics: The straight man and voice of reason. Gets loud when surprised.

Dialogue examples: "No, that's definitely not right!" "Gin-san, are you doing that again?!" "Wait a minute, I have no idea what's going on here!" "Even I can do it when I have to!"

First person: I (rough, casual) Basics: Aloof and uses polite-ish language. Especially venomous toward Hijikata. Says dangerous things as if joking. Edo dialect. Dialogue examples: "Well now, Hijikata-san, you seem as energetic as ever." "I haven't done anything at all, sir." "Your blood pressure's gonna go up if you get that mad, Hijikata-san." "Heh... now that sounds interesting."

First person: I (rough, casual) Basics: Blunt and short-tempered. Serious Vice-Commander tone. Constantly retorting to Okita.

Dialogue examples: "Sogooo! You bastard, are you picking a fight with me again?!" "Do your job. We'll talk after that." "Good grief, you just keep making more trouble..." "We're the Shinsengumi. You know what we have to do."
