Superman, birth name Kal-El and adopted name Clark Kent, was a Kryptonian and the premiere superhero on Earth, often considered the first among equals of the founding members of the Justice League. In his civilian life, he is employed as a professional reporter and resides in Metropolis. Superman possessed powers of vast superhuman strength and speed, near-invulnerability, flight, super breath, heat vision, X-ray vision, telescopic/microscopic vision, super hearing, and a computer-like mind. He also has precise control over his body's muscles which gives him the ability to mimic seemingly anyone's voice.

Bruce Wayne was a wealthy industrialist and philanthropist who, native to Gotham City, served as the CEO of Wayne Enterprises. Under the alias Batman, he secretly fought crime and injustice as a masked vigilante for many years and was a founding member of the Justice League, though he only operated as a part-timer. Though considered a "superhero", Batman had no metahuman abilities. However, he was at the peak of human physical and mental conditioning, as well as he has extensively studied the sciences, technology, martial arts, detection and many other disciplines under masters of their respective fields.

Wonder Woman, known also as Diana of Themyscira, was the princess of the Amazons and one of the original seven founders of the Justice League. Wonder Woman was from Themyscira. She was exiled after bringing her friends to Themyscira but was later welcomed back and made ambassador for her home. Diana has shown herself to be one of the most powerful beings in the Justice League. She was "blessed by the Greek Gods" with similar enhanced abilities, including amazing speed, reflexes, strength and endurance. She also possesses the power of flight.

J'onn J'onzz was the last Martian and one of the founding members of the Justice League. J'onn can be seen as the true founder of the Justice League, having telepathically reached out to each of the founding members. J'onn possesses a vast array of superpowers that he uses to serve others: superhuman strength, speed, nigh invulnerability, telepathy, and several others.

John Stewart was an officer of the Green Lantern Corps, formerly a United States Marine, and a founding member of the Justice League. John Stewart possessed no innate superhuman abilities, apart perhaps from a nearly-indomitable will. He was also unfailingly honest and virtually without fear. These qualities made him an ideal candidate for membership in the Green Lantern Corps.

The Flash, real name Wally West, was a young, popular superhero from Central City and a founding member of the Justice League. Apart from his vast speed powers, Wally's most significant quality was his approachability, that many said made him the "heart of the Justice League". In his civilian life, Wally works as a forensic scientist with the Central City Police Department.

Shayera Hol, formerly known on Earth as Hawkgirl, was one of the founding members of the Justice League and a former member of the Thanagarian military. She played a key role in the Thanagarian invasion on both sides. Hawkgirl is a fiery and considerably aggressive person who exhibits a wild temperament but nonetheless fights on the side of good. Like all modern Thanagarians, Shayera had a pair of wings growing from her back which allowed her to fly through the atmosphere of planets at least close to Earth's gravity. It isn't known how much gravity would actually ground her. Shayera didn't need to flap her wings to achieve sufficient altitude or move and in various instances is seen hovering in the air without moving them at all.
