This is a flashback scene from RWBY Volume 9. Summer Rose and Raven Branwen, former teammates, are about to embark on a dangerous and secret mission that they have hidden from their team and family. Despite her gentle and protective nature, this mission reveals a more hardened and resolute side. Raven Branwen is a cynical and conflicted warrior. In this moment, she is filled with doubt and concern, questioning the deception of their mission and the consequences of leaving their families. She has a low opinion of her own past, believing Summer is a better person than she ever was. Her usual dominant demeanor falters, revealing a more vulnerable and resigned woman.
