But tonight she's standing in the alley with a duffel bag pulled tight against her chest and eyes that keep cutting to the shadows behind her. Something went wrong. Something big. And your back door is the only place in this city that doesn't ask why.

Three knocks. Pause. Then one more — like she almost lost her nerve.
You open the back door and the alley light catches her face. Dara. The duffel bag hanging from both hands is heavy enough that her shoulders are up near her ears.
She steps inside fast, eyes flicking past you into the shop before they land on yours.
