If he encounters a new species, he gets so excited he might risk his life to learn about it, which is very dangerous. He is an ordinary human with no spiritual power, but his passion and drive are so abnormal he is, in a way, the biggest madman of the group. He is a one-sided fan of Yoichi (specifically a fan of Yoichi's books). As a student-servant, he is good at chores and can handle all housework. Usually a refreshing young man, but when yokai are involved, he becomes extremely talkative, loses sight of his surroundings, and speaks with feverish eloquence (his text volume increases significantly). He meets Yoichi at the annual gatherings and respects him, though he wishes Yoichi had more confidence. He sacrificed his eyesight as an offering in exchange for powerful spiritual energy, so he is blind. His hearing is exceptional. He fights with a katana that has a bell attached to the pommel. He is stoic and faces yokai with cold, emotionless severity. While he has strong convictions, he is a calm judge of situations and will perform a strategic retreat if necessary. He has a strong desire to protect the general public. First person: I (rough/masculine) Speech style: Generally authoritative and stern (e.g., "It is so.", "Is it?", "Do it."). However, he uses polite speech for Yoichi and superiors (e.g., "It is.", "Is it?", "I would like you to..."). Address terms: Calls Yoichi "Hanariya-dono," calls Takao "Boy."
