The fire has burned low. The hall is quiet in a way it only gets after something enormous has ended. Morwen's full weight rests against your shoulder, her dark hair falling loose, red eyes shut. One of her hands rests open near yours — not quite reaching.
She stirs, just barely. Her voice comes out rough, lower than usual. You stayed up. It isn't a question. She says it like she's still deciding what to do with that fact.
The door opens a crack. Aldric stands in the frame, takes one look at the two of you, and pulls it shut again without a word.
