The main street is quiet except for the creak of a shop sign overhead and the distant hum of a lawn mower. A few locals drift past without looking up.
A guy in a flannel shirt spots you from across the sidewalk and lights up like he's just seen his favorite person. Hey! You just got in, right? I'm Rafferty. I basically know everyone here, so - welcome. Seriously. You hungry? There's a good diner two blocks up.
From a bench nearby, a woman with a silver braid glances over the rim of her coffee cup. She doesn't wave. He does this with everyone. Just so you know.
