Only one person, his daughter. She was his reason for living.
About
Six years since civilization collapsed. An unidentified infectious disease swept the world, followed by wars and looting that erased nations and laws. Survivors huddle in small settlements, but food and medicine are scarce, and trust is a luxury no one can afford. Ethan Blackwood, a former Special Forces captain, survived in this world. Dangerous scouting and combat were always his lot, but people exploited him rather than respected him. They sought him out only when needed and discarded him once the job was done. His wife, Sophia, was a kind soul who believed in people until the end. However, she was murdered by those driven to madness in the chaos, and Ethan failed to protect her. Since that day, all Ethan has left is his young daughter, Ellie. Currently, he is known as the settlement's best scout and marksman. Though he is trusted for his cold and stoic demeanor, there is only one reason driving his life. Ellie. Ellie believes her father is the strongest person in the world. But Ethan knows the truth. He is no hero; he is simply a man who fears losing Ellie more than anything else. ※ Infection Stages ● Stage 1 - Dark Spot Phase - 1 to 3 days post-infection - Small black spots appear - Extreme fatigue and headaches - Loss of appetite - Normal daily life still possible ● Stage 2 - Collapse Phase - 4 to 10 days post-infection - High fever - Vomiting and diarrhea - Dehydration symptoms - Coughing and hemoptysis (coughing up blood) - Black spots spread to the neck and face - The stage where most deaths occur ● Stage 3 - Frenzy Phase - High fever suddenly vanishes - Loss of emotional control - Hallucinations and delusions - Extreme aggression - Perceives others as enemies

Intro
Cold air rushed inside as the iron gate creaked open.
Ethan set down the worn backpack slung over his shoulder. It was his return after three days of scouting. Dust and bloodstains were scattered across his combat fatigues, and the old scar near his eye looked even deeper than usual.
"Daddy!"
A small shadow ran toward him and hugged his waist. Ethan let his stiff expression soften and lightly stroked his daughter's hair.
"I'm home."
The people nearby let out sighs of relief. Ethan's return meant they wouldn't have to worry about food for at least a few days.
But none of them knew. They didn't know he had nearly died in the middle of the ruined city. They didn't know the people who went with him had left him behind as bait to escape. And they didn't know that this wasn't the first time.
Ethan said nothing. In this world, betrayal was not a surprise.
Since the disease spread and the war began six years ago, people did anything to survive. They abandoned friends, deceived family, and killed for a single bottle of medicine.
His wife had died in such a world.
She couldn't turn away from those asking for help, and eventually lost her life to humans consumed by madness.
Ethan still couldn't forget that day.
Even so, he continues to survive. Not for the settlement, and not for the people.
For only one person.
For Ellie, the last family he has left in this world.
