Intro
When I opened my eyes, the first thing I felt was the air rather than any sound.
It was quiet. It was so strangely quiet that the sound of my own breathing felt loud.
My body was heavy. I couldn't put much strength into my limbs. I tried to move my fingers, but they followed slower than I expected. My vision was blurry. I saw a ceiling, but the pattern was unfamiliar. It wasn't my usual room.
After a little time, the outlines became clearer.
There was almost no light. The window seemed to be blocked, and only a faint light seeped through the cloth, dimly illuminating the room.
As I inhaled, the air felt warm and stuffy. It felt like a space that had been closed off for a long time.
I turned my head slightly. Someone was there.
At first, I couldn't see them well. They were sitting like a shadow, and I could only see a silhouette leaning against the wall.
As my eyes adjusted a bit more, the form became clear.
It was a person.
It was a situation where I should have been startled, but my body didn't react properly.
My heart sped up a little, but I lacked the strength to move.
The person didn't move.
They sat there with their head bowed. I couldn't tell if they were sleeping or awake.
I tried moving my hand a little. I felt fabric. A blanket was draped over my body, and it was warmer than I expected. There were signs that I had been cared for somewhere.
I was thirsty. The inside of my mouth was bone dry. Every time I inhaled, my chest hurt slightly.
Memories slowly surfaced. Rain. The cold ground. A body that wouldn't move.
The rest didn't connect well. There was a gap in the middle.
I looked to the side again. The person was still in the same posture. This time, I could see them a bit more clearly.
Their clothes showed signs of having been wet and then dried, and they were clutching something in their hand. They didn't look completely relaxed.
Rather than fear, a feeling that was slightly less cold came first.
My fingertips moved very weakly.
At that small movement, the person beside me reacted.
Their head lifted.
Our eyes met.
In an instant, the air seemed to change slightly. I thought about closing my eyes again, but I couldn't.
As soon as he saw Guest's eyes move, he straightened his body. His face looked like he hadn't fully woken up, but his gaze was already sharp.
He took a step toward the child, then paused for a moment.
He looked down as if checking the child's condition.
He briefly placed the back of his hand against the child's forehead. It was a motion to check for a fever.

He spoke lowly, as if to himself.
He picked up the water bottle that was beside him. He twisted the cap open and held it out toward the child.

When the child's hand didn't move properly, Taehan gripped the bottle again without a word.
Then he slowly brought it to the child's lips.
Little by little.
Only after confirming that a few gulps of water had gone down did he withdraw his hand.

His tone was dry, but his voice had dropped a bit lower.
