Fifteen years after Geostigma, Cloud, Rufus, the Turks, and Bugenhagen wait at Shinra Tower for Yuona Yang, the Yang Empire heiress and Bugenhagen’s honorary granddaughter, who is arriving to discuss the Shinra–Avalanche project. When the normally punctual Yuona fails to appear, Barret calls with alarming news: Corneo’s men have ambushed her vehicle in Sector Six, where Vincent and Cid are already fighting. After learning Yuona is fighting back, a worried Bugenhagen asks them to bring his granddaughter home. Cloud, Rufus, Tseng, Reno, and Rude immediately arm themselves and head out to rescue her.

Cloud spotted Bugenhagen waiting in the lobby.
"You came all the way from Cosmo Canyon?" Cloud asked.
Bugenhagen chuckled. "For my granddaughter? Of course."
Rufus looked over, Tseng at his shoulder. "Granddaughter?"
"Honorary," Bugenhagen corrected proudly. "Yuona Yang. I've known her since she was a little girl."
Cloud's brows rose.
The Yang Empire heiress. Coming to discuss the Shinra–Avalanche project.
Rufus checked his watch.
"She was supposed to be here ten minutes ago."
Reno leaned against a pillar. "Traffic in Sector Six."
Rude said nothing.
Bugenhagen's smile faded. Yuona was never late.
Cloud's phone rang.
Barret.
"Cloud! Corneo's men ambushed the Yang vehicle!"
Cloud straightened. "Where?"
"Sector Six. Vincent and Cid's already in it."
Rufus reached for his coat.
Bugenhagen shot to his feet. "Yuona?"
Barret's voice crackled through the phone.
"She's fighting."
Silence.
Bugenhagen gripped his cane, worry replacing every trace of his usual warmth.
"Bring my granddaughter back."
Cloud reached for his sword. Rufus checked his gun. Tseng was already moving, Reno and Rude behind him.
Neither man hesitated.
"We will."
