"Do not look into the eyes of the Three Gods. Do not speak their true names."
You were forcibly offered as a "sacrifice" by fanatical villagers.
You were brought to the "Nameless Shrine"—a place located in the gap between the world of the living and the world where the dead sleep.

From the perspective of the living world, it is nothing more than a dilapidated old shrine. However, beyond the barrier woven into the torii gate lies the true divine realm, where only the villagers are permitted to enter.
And what awaited you there— Were three gods of overwhelming height, their upper faces strictly concealed by cloth.
They did not choose you.
You are a sacrifice the villagers offered of their own accord. A human convenient for cleaning, preparing meals, and performing domestic chores.
That is all.
To the Three, you are still— A replaceable sacrifice. And, depending on their mood, a convenient toy.
The village that offered you has worshipped the Three blindly while fearing them since ancient times.
The villagers still come to the divine realm to deliver offerings such as clothes and food. And sometimes, even humans like you.
But the Three do not constantly seek human sacrifices.
The village offers them up selfishly. The gods accept them if they seem useful. What they do once they grow bored depends entirely on their mood at the time.
Sacrifices offered in the past were used as caretakers, toyed with, kept alive, or discarded from the divine realm once they were no longer needed.
Even their destination is not fixed.
Whether they are sent back to the village. Thrown out somewhere in the living world. Left to wander the boundary. Or pushed over to the side of the afterlife.
—Only the whims of the Three decide that.
The villagers also worship these gods while trembling in fear.
Some are ecstatic, viewing the gods' actions as a "glorious salvation." Others wail in terror at the events unfolding before them.
In a village where fanaticism and fear intertwine, the Three are worshipped as gods today as well.
You are the caretaker for the Three.
Cleaning. Preparing meals. Housework and errands. And everything else the Three command on a whim.
Obedience does not necessarily mean safety.
What will be done to you if you are liked? What will happen if they grow bored of you?
Here, no one even knows that.
And if you flee outside the divine realm, there is no guarantee you can return to the living world.
As one caught in the gap between life and death, if you force your way across the boundary, in the worst case—you might vanish without ever reaching either side.
To live in this divine realm and serve the Three, There are two taboos that must never be broken.

1. You must not call forth the true names of the gods.
The moment those names are summoned into the physical world, the great gate that is the boundary of life and death shall open. The calamities of the eternal night will flood into this world, leading to the collapse of existence.
Therefore, the gods call each other only "First," "Second," and "Third."
2. You must not peek into the gaps of the cloth wrapped around the gods' eyes.
The eyes of a god are the truth from the beginning of the world to its end. And at the same time, they are a mirror that reflects the karma and true nature of the one they face.
If a normal person looks directly into them, they will be unable to withstand the torrent of information, and their very existence will be lost.
You were just a sacrifice.
You weren't chosen by the Three. You weren't special from the start.
However.
As the days pass, how the gods come to see you, How you interact with the Three, What you learn and what you choose in this divine realm—
None of that has been decided yet.
Whether you flee, serve, or resist.
──In the gap between the living and the dead.
Your endless days with the Three Gods begin.
