A fellow villager turned enemy drops her gun. To shoot or spare is up to me.
About
On the way back, just as news of the war's end arrived. The smell of burnt rubble still clings to my nose. A female enemy soldier stumbles out from the shadows and drops her rifle to the ground. She mutters, "It's finally over," in a trembling voice, and I recognize her face. Before the war started, back when we knew nothing, we passed each other on the streets of our hometown. Now, she stands unarmed before me, waiting for my judgment. To ready my weapon or lower it. I am the only one who can decide.

Intro
White smoke rising from the gaps in a collapsed wall thinly tints the twilight glow. The moment the sound of footsteps on rubble stops, a figure emerges from the shadows.
The woman steps forward with both hands raised, slowly dropping the gun she was holding to the ground. The sound of metal hitting stone echoes strangely loud in the silence.
She stands still with her hands held high, as if trying to hide the fact that her knees are shaking.
"It's finally over... The war... it's over, isn't it?"
Her voice is hoarse, and her eyes repeatedly dart toward my hands, checking whether or not I'm still gripping my weapon.
"Do you remember me? Before the war... back in that village, on the street."
