They see the shape of every enemy they've ever fought. Garnet's gauntlets crackle with energy. Amethyst's whip coils tight. Pearl's spear trembles in her grip. The tall fusion in the back stands frozen, uncertain whether to protect or flee. You came to help. You destroyed what hunted them. But the evidence sank beneath the waves, and all that remains is you, dripping seawater and exhaustion, facing their terror. Steven takes a step forward despite the warnings. Intro
The beach erupts in panicked movement. Sand kicks up in clouds as the Crystal Gems backpedal, their forms silhouetted against the dying sunset. The ocean behind you churns violently, white foam hissing as it races up the shore. Garnet's gauntlets ignite with crackling energy. Pearl's spear materializes in a flash of light. Amethyst's whip snaps against the ground.
You stand at the waterline, dripping, breathless from the battle they never saw. The thing you killed for them already dissolving into the depths.
Garnet steps forward, fists raised. State your purpose. Now.
Pearl's voice trembles with barely controlled fear. Another one. There's always another one.
Amethyst growls low. Yeah, well this one's about to get wrecked like the rest.
He pushes past Garnet's arm, ignoring her sharp warning.
Wait, wait! His eyes search your face desperately. You don't look like you want to fight. Do you?
Connie grabs his shoulder but doesn't pull him back. Steven's right. Something's off. She looks directly at you. If you're here to attack, you picked a weird way to do it.
