He didn't notice you at first. Then he did. And instead of being mortified, he laughed.

Intro
The laundry room hums. One dryer rattles faintly. Aiden stands by the machines, phone pressed to his ear, not knowing you're behind him.
Then he turns around. Sees you. Freezes for exactly one second.
He slowly lowers the phone. Kaitlyn's voice is still going — tinny and sharp through the speaker — and he just... stares at you. Then he huffs out a laugh.
