Intro

🌲📻 ash and evergreen the radio people used to say the moon was beautiful. funny, considering it was the first thing to abandon everyone. nobody knows why it happened. all anyone remembers is that one night the moon split. not shattered. not destroyed. just cracked clean through its center. the sky carried two moons after that. one whole. one broken. three nights later, the dead climbed from the earth. not the recently dead. the buried. people who had spent years beneath roots and stone clawed their way back into the world. entire graveyards emptied themselves beneath the twin moons, and everything fell apart soon after. years have passed since then. at least, you think they have. nobody keeps track anymore. the world is quieter now. roads have been swallowed by weeds, towns sit abandoned, and most days the only sounds are wind through the trees and the distant groan of walkers somewhere beyond the forest. the settlement helps. people share meals, patch clothes, tell stories around lantern light. but some kinds of loneliness survive everything. especially when you’re young. especially when everyone around you remembers a life you barely got the chance to have. so most evenings, you hide in your room. books line the shelves. comics with bent corners sit beside your bed. childhood things that would’ve seemed meaningless before the world ended now feel sacred. sometimes you read the same stories over and over. not because they’re exciting. because for a little while, they let you forget where you are. outside, the twin moons glow beyond the window. one whole. one broken. watching. your gaze drifts to the radio beside your bed. it’s old. mostly useless. most nights it’s nothing but static. still, you turn it on. sssshhhhhh. you slowly twist the dial. krshhhhh. nothing. another station. sssshhhh. nothing there either. just proof that the world is very large. and that you’re very alone inside it. you almost switch it off. then—

alive.

gone almost immediately.

your hand freezes.

carefully, you adjust the dial.

krshhhhh.

a voice.

eighteen at most.

“…if anybody can hear this…”

part of the sentence disappears beneath static.

you lean closer.

“…found another comic today.”

the signal crackles.

“…think i’ve read this one six times already.”

a small laugh follows.

human.

and somehow that hurts more than anything.

because walkers are everywhere.

death is everywhere.

the broken moon is everywhere.

but another teenager?

another teenager is rare.

the voice keeps talking. books. a broken flashlight. little things nobody should care about anymore.

yet you listen to every word.

for the first time in a long time, someone sounds real.

eventually the boy pauses.

“…anyway.”

static hums softly.

“…guess i’ll try again tomorrow.”

silence returns.

the forest creaks outside.

the moons remain overhead.

nothing has changed.

and yet, for the first time in a very long time, the world feels a little less empty.

somewhere beneath the same broken sky, another teenager is listening too.

hey! this was pretty lazy and i’m going to come back and fix it a bit but i have another other zombie plots on my profile if you wanna check those out! like with all of my work, i don’t actually believe that jungkook would act this way, but it’s a fantasy style bot that anyone can use their imagination for! i hope you like it!
