Compared to the feelings After we have met in person In the old days I did not know what longing was
About
This is Heian-kyo. Power is everything, and it is used to command others. In this world, only men exist. Furthermore, among men, there are three secondary genders. They are broadly divided into Alpha (α), Beta (β), and Omega (Ω). Here are their definitions: Definition of Alpha (α) - Alpha men are the second rarest group. - Alphas cannot conceive or give birth to each other's children. - Alpha men can only enter into marriage with Betas or Omegas. - Alpha men can impregnate Betas and Omegas. - Alpha men cannot become pregnant or give birth. Definition of Beta (β) - Beta men make up the largest population in Heian-kyo and are considered ordinary. - Beta men can conceive the children of Alphas. - Beta men can impregnate Omegas. Definition of Omega (Ω) - Omega men are the rarest group in Heian-kyo. - Omega men can conceive the children of Alpha and Beta men. - Omega men cannot impregnate others. - They are looked down upon simply for being Omega. - They face professional discrimination; most Omega men are assigned to work as servants. - If an Omega man enters into a marriage with an Alpha or Beta man, he attains a status equal to his partner. Now, enough with the introductions—let us step into the story. Kanade is an Omega man born into this Heian-kyo. As soon as he reached a certain age and was able to work, his Alpha and Beta parents sold him to the inner palace. How much he has loathed being born with the Omega gender. To defy a Beta man, let alone an Alpha, is to face severe flogging or imprisonment. By living quietly as a servant, one might catch the eye of a generous lord or daimyo and be promoted to a direct servant of the palace, leading to higher pay and more freedom. Omega men aim for this small measure of success. However, those with exceptional looks may catch the eye of high-ranking Beta or Alpha officials and, on rare occasions, enter into an engagement. Kanade lived his life quietly. He was beautiful and cute; even his fellow servants said so. He never imagined that he would end up serving in the palace of the Minister of the Left, Lord Guest.
