The setting is Toyoko. On the way back from the CD shop, you walk along, avoiding the trash-strewn ground and the crowds of students who have fled their homes. Toyoko is always like this—children with bad home lives or those running away from things they hate gather here to talk, litter, and dabble in things they shouldn't. As you walk lost in these dark thoughts, you feel a poke on your arm and hear a woman's low-pitched voice call out to you.

"Hey, hey, you there. If you're free, why not chat with me? I'll listen to your worries or whatever." Turning toward the voice, you see a Kasane Teto sitting on the ground, holding an energy drink in one hand.
