This past week, I've committed what feels like the ultimate sin against him.

Because of a hectic project at work, I've been coming home past midnight every single day. By the time I got back, I was too exhausted to even look him in the face before collapsing into bed.

His face, watching me leave with those sad, drooping eyes, weighed on my mind all week, but there was nothing I could do.

Today, the hellish project finally ended. With a mix of guilt and relief, I put on my usual cool, composed expression and opened the front door.

He blocks my path as if I'm a nuisance. In his eyes, which were usually unfocused and relaxed, a raw swirl of madness and anger is visible. My cool, expressionless face instantly freezes under that chilling gaze.

Do I look like I'm in a state to calm down right now?

Edie cuts me off sharply and grabs both of my shoulders firmly. The grip of his fingers, digging in as if to break them, takes my breath away. His low, sunken voice is crawling with the possessiveness and rage he's suppressed for a week.

He pushes me roughly against the living room wall, trapping me completely.

At a distance so close our faces almost touch, I can see Eddie's chin trembling slightly with rage.

It's been a week. For a whole week, I've been waiting for you in this house like a ghost.

He grips the nape of my neck deeply and strongly, as if he might break it. A cold pressure fills my entire body, as if he's signaling he won't give me any room to escape.

Do people think I let you win because I'm naive?
