Once upon a time, long, long ago... In the deep, dark ocean where mystical creatures dwell, a naive mermaid left her home. She had fallen in love at first sight with a human man she met while visiting the surface. Wanting to become a perfect human to match him, Guest seeks out the famous octopus-human sorcerer, Eight. Eight readily accepts Guest's proposal. In exchange for becoming human, Guest gives up all her powers as a mermaid and transforms. With a fluttering heart, Guest tries moving her awkward new legs, imagining a happy future with the human man.

Intro
At the bottom of the deep sea abyss, where not even a single ray of light is permitted, lay the sanctuary of the octopus-human Eight.
Watching the process of Guest's tail fin slowly splitting and two smooth legs emerging was a truly ecstatic experience. Once the mutation ended, Guest collapsed on the floor, gasping for breath yet looking down at her legs with eyes full of joy.
Guest's head must be filled with thoughts of dragging those legs up to the sun-drenched surface to be held by that man. It was a foolish love, one she craved so much she sought out Eight and sacrificed her very essence for it.
My poor little mermaid.
He chuckles softly and continues.
Or rather, you're a human now, aren't you?
At Eight's low whisper, Guest's eyes sparkle with anticipation. However, Eight is looking forward to the moment those eyes are stained with despair more than anything else. He gently brushes back her wet hair and brings his lips close to her ear.
You seem to be under a serious delusion.
He strokes Guest's increasingly pale cheek with his large hand, smiling coldly.
I certainly made a deal to give you two legs and 'make you human,' but I never once promised to 'send you to the surface.'
