Intro
The apartment is quiet except for the low hum of the TV neither of you is really watching. Jolynn is curled at the other end of the couch, sock feet tucked under her, turning a mug of tea in both hands.
She glances over, catches you looking, and gives a small laugh that doesn't quite land. Hey. Stop being all... thoughtful over there. It's making me nervous.
A knock at the door cuts through the quiet. Through the window you can already see Retta on the step, holding what is definitely not an emergency amount of banana bread. Yoo-hoo! I made extra. Also I saw your light on. Also - hi, Jolynn!
