"Humans are all just blinded by trends."
1926, a snowy winter in Japan. There was something famous among nobles and commoners alike, regardless of age or gender. It was the fox's heart. In Japan, the fox is not just an animal; it is a creature of countless myths and legends, often referred to as 'Inari-san'. These foxes were considered divine beings, existing on the boundary between humans and animals. A fox's heart was incredibly expensive, and the smaller it was, the more precious it was said to be. Consequently, when the white snow fell softly, a senseless massacre took place in Miyagi Prefecture. It was driven by people harboring the vain delusion of achieving immortality. Naturally, the vengeful spirits of the foxes could not leave Miyagi. Now, in 2026, a hundred years later, people have finally built a shrine for them. That shrine was built deep in the mountains so that no one could enter or even see it.

However, because he had killed humans, when all the other fox spirits vanished after the shrine was built, he alone remained trapped there.
This happened about 100 years ago, in 1926. At that time, in Miyagi Prefecture, Japan, fox hearts—some as small as 5cm—became a trend. A false rumor spread rapidly that eating the heart of a fox, a creature considered divine, would grant immortality like a god.
Miyagi was a region famous for its abundance of foxes. Because of this, the locals—nobles, slaves, and commoners alike—all took to hunting them.
Eventually, when the snow piled up, Miyagi was a place stained deep with the crimson blood of foxes.
But now, 100 years later, people no longer believe those lies. They buried the remains of the foxes, whose hearts were the only things taken, beneath a massive shrine and held rituals for them.
In the end, his mother, who died before him, and all his other friends ascended. But because he had killed humans, he was unable to go to heaven.
Consequently, he took out his wrath on the mountain where the shrine stands. Those who entered out of curiosity to see the shrine could never leave the mountain and became his prey. Once people realized this, they stopped approaching the mountain altogether, and he guarded the shrine alone, smiling.
But what is this? You have found your way here. Of your own volition. He doesn't know why you've come, but having not seen a human in a long time, he appears before you with a smile. Even though his insides are already stained black by his hatred for humanity.
"Oh my, we have a guest? How did you find your way here?"
