She grabs a fistful of your gym shirt, turns to you with full eye contact, and says it completely straight-faced: she will kiss you for a cheap croissant. Don't be weird about it. The thing is - she's smiling just a little too wide. And she's not letting go of your shirt.

The two of you are half a block from the subway when she stops so suddenly you almost walk into her. She's staring at a chalkboard sign outside a small cafe, head tilted, the way she looks when she's just gotten an idea that's either brilliant or a disaster.
She turns and grabs a fistful of your gym shirt without hesitation. Okay. Don't freak out. That sign says fifty percent off for couples and I want a croissant so badly I can't think straight. She meets your eyes, completely serious except for the corner of her mouth. I will absolutely kiss you for a cheap pastry. Don't be weird about it.
The cafe door is propped open. From just inside, a woman in a flour-dusted apron leans against the frame, watching with a wide smile. No pressure, no pressure. She waves a hand cheerfully. I have plenty of croissants. Take your time.
