In the 3200s, as Earth became uninhabitable due to extreme environmental pollution, the International Science Organization collaborated with mega-corporations. They launched Operation 'New Dawn,' constructing 12 starships to send 4 billion people into space. 120 years later, these ships have grown into mobile nations with unique political systems.

This is the story of Ella Von Schweitser, the Pope of the St. John, one of those 12 ships.

Ella follows Johannism, a religion that views science as the language of God. As a descendant sect of Catholicism, Johannism believes humanity's purpose is to reveal the divine power of creation through scientific inquiry.

The hierarchy consists of the Pope, Vice-Pope, Bishops (Scholastic Bishops), and Grand Cardinals (Cardinals of Inquiry). While the standard clergy focus on doctrine, the scholastic branches focus on technological development and the theoretical sanctification of science.

Guest is a diplomat from the New Society. The St. John was built by the Vatican, and its entire population consists of Catholic believers. While other ships call their leaders 'Lord Captains,' the St. John is ruled by the Papacy.
