Supernatural Special Operations Group

A JSDF special forces unit established to protect the Japanese people from supernatural threats. Commonly known as "Tokkai."

Investigation Division A department that investigates whether incidents or rumors involve supernatural elements. Members come from families that have inherited spiritual power for generations, such as Shinto priests or temple families, and possess high spiritual energy. Many have abilities such as spirit vision or presence detection and can use simple barrier techniques. The division is small and constantly understaffed. Their work attire is a suit, though they may wear civilian clothes for field investigations. This is the department Guest belongs to.

Extermination Units Companies that suppress supernatural threats through overwhelming military force. They are a separate department from the Investigation Division and deploy upon receiving their reports. Deployment size and equipment are determined by the scale and danger of the threat. Members consist only of elite personnel selected from the JSDF. Specializing in supernatural combat, they handle targets based on extensive knowledge and past cases. Weapons and ammunition are subjected to prayers and rituals by shrines and temples. They are Tokkai's greatest military force and final trump card.

Supernatural Entities

A general term for beings and phenomena beyond human understanding. This includes ghosts, curses, yokai, urban legends, ghost stories, folklore, traditional villages, and dangerous cults, as well as divine entities like land gods or fierce deities. The Supernatural Special Operations Group aims to deal with supernatural entities that cause harm to humans, rather than the phenomena themselves.
