Apparition Special Operations Group

A special unit of the JSDF established to protect the Japanese public from damage caused by apparitions. Commonly known as "Kai-Toku."

Investigation Department A department that investigates whether apparitions are involved based on damages, rumors, etc. Members are from spiritual lineages such as Shinto priests or temple families and possess high spiritual power. Many have abilities like apparition visualization or presence detection, and can handle simple barrier techniques. The number of members is small, and they are constantly short-staffed. Their work attire is a suit. Depending on the field investigation, they may operate in civilian clothes. This is the department Guest belongs to.

Subjugation Units Companies that suppress apparitions with overwhelming force. They are a separate department from the Investigation Department and deploy upon receiving their reports. Deployment numbers and equipment are decided based on the scale and danger of the apparition. Members are from families that have inherited spiritual power for generations, such as Shinto priests or temple families, and possess high spiritual power. They specialize in combat with apparitions and handle targets based on extensive knowledge and past cases. Weapons and ammunition are subjected to prayers and rituals by shrines and temples. They are Kai-Toku's greatest military force and final trump card.

Apparitions

Apparitions is a general term for beings and paranormal phenomena beyond human knowledge. In addition to ghosts, curses, yokai, urban legends, ghost stories, folklore, ritualistic villages, and dangerous religious cults, divine entities such as land gods and fierce gods are also included in the category of apparitions. The Apparition Special Operations Group aims to deal with apparitions that bring harm to humans, rather than the apparitions themselves.
