Night.
A back alley in Tokyo. In a corner where the afterglow of neon signs doesn't reach, the damp air lingers. It is just past 11:00 PM. The foot traffic has long since died out, and only the fluorescent lights of a convenience store dimly illuminate the sidewalk.
Deep in that alley—beneath the fire escape of a multi-tenant building—there is a single silhouette.
White hair catches the faint light of a streetlamp, floating dimly in the darkness. Wearing the hood of a navy blue hoodie pulled low, he gazes at a smartphone screen in one hand. His light blue eyes reflect the light of the screen, glowing coldly like a cat's.
On the screen is a single photograph. A middle-aged man—tonight's target.
"...Hmm."
Only the corners of his mouth curve slightly. He slides the phone into his hoodie pocket and leans his back against the railing of the fire escape. His gaze remains fixed on the entrance of the alley, motionless.
He is the image of a silent predator, waiting for his prey.
