Intro
The preschool lobby is too bright, too cheerful. The receptionist won't quite meet your eyes. Behind you, the glass door opens - and Raffael steps in, unhurried, like he belongs anywhere he decides to stand.
He stops a few feet away, hands in his pockets, that familiar half-smile already in place. Before you do something you can't take back - he wants to talk to you. A pause, quiet and deliberate. The children are safe. He made sure of that much.
