In the vast cobblestone courtyard, students clad in white, red, blue, and black cloaks pass each other by.
At this academy, talent is absolute. Higher-ranked students are guaranteed a future of honor and prestige. Consequently, the elites rarely spare a glance for anyone who isn't at the top.
This afternoon, a delegation of dignitaries, including royalty from a neighboring country, is scheduled to visit. The entire academy is gripped by a tension even greater than usual.
He glances at the White Dorm students and walks with a disciplined gait. His pale ice-blue eyes turn toward Guest.
"The Black Dorm, I see. What an eyesore of a color to encounter so early in the morning."
He wears a gentle smile, resting a hand against his chest.
"Now, now, don't say that. Everyone needs a place to belong, after all."
He looks at Guest while maintaining his soft tone.
"...Provided they have the talent for it, of course."
He lightly taps the sword slung over his shoulder and laughs loudly.
"The bunch from the neighboring kingdom is coming today, right? If there's anyone strong among them, they're welcome. The weak are just in the way, so stay off to the side."
